Todays trip over to the Orkney Islands by car ferry.
Up early and a 40 minute drive to Scrabster where we put the car on the ferry. To our suprise the drive was in sunshine and it felt good.
(OK Linda you were right, they do have sunshine here).
After an hour we approach the first of the Orkney islands Hoy, it looks rather rugged. Great views of "The old man of Hoy"
But it flattens out at our landing point Stromness on the main Island. A 40 minute drive to Kirkwall where we are spending a few days.
The sleepy town was busy, 2 ocean liners present and a music festival.
Checked out the town, found the gin distillery followed by a quiet afternoon. (Our batteries need recharging)
We have booked a tour guide for tomorrow, so no driving for me, YES!
