What to do when it rains in Edinburgh

Yep heavy rain will be with us all day, but being tough little vegemites we head of towards the castle.

They seem to have taken some owership of Harry Pothead and Hogwash magic scholl here but it was a suprise to see owls on our travels.

A quick look at the castle gates

Then we all agreed it was time to do the Edinburgh Whisky Experience.
This is not a distillery it is a fancy appreciation school which talks about all the regions and how they differ. But first they show you how it is made by taking you for a ride in a motorised wine barrel.

Our barrel got rained on, travelled through a barley paddock, washed, dried, milled. We were mashed, distilled a couple of times and met other full barrels. Great fun

A little talk about the regions and a card whick you rubbed and it gave you the aroma of that region.
I intend to place it in an outside pouch of my backpack and watch the sniffer dog at airport arrivals.

Then we saw what is meant to be on of the biggest whisky collections.
There were some very envious faces on the tour.

More great pubs.
This one is all about Bobby who sat on his owner grave for 14 years.
